Our favorite zinc sunscreen for surfers is SPF30 sunscreen, 100% mineral Sports+, not nanoorganic and certified organic. Yes, for most surfers, nanoparticle-free zinc oxide is the best option. It creates a physical barrier that lasts longer in the water and offers reliable, broad-spectrum protection without damaging marine ecosystems. It's also less likely to cause outbreaks.

Invest in your skin health so that your skin looks better and feels better both in and out of the water. However, the 5-star UVA protection in a low-SPF cream won't offer good all-round sun protection. What you should look for is a “broad spectrum” cream with a high sun protection factor and lots of stars. The ideal is an SPF30-50 with 4 or 5 stars.
Vitamin D helps the body absorb calcium, and calcium is needed to keep bones, teeth and muscles healthy. A lack of vitamin D can cause soft bones in children (rickets) and deformed bones in adults (osteomalacia). The problem is that the best source of vitamin D comes from UV radiation from the sun, which is also a major cause of skin cancer. Therefore, a balanced and sensible approach is required. In most parts of the world, you can get the required daily dose of vitamin D if you spend a little time outdoors. If you spend a lot of time outdoors or there is a risk of sunburn, it is recommended to protect yourself from the sun.
